superlight safarisDepart in the morning and visit the Kazuri Beads. The Kazuri workshop is situated in Karen, an area South West of Nairobi named after Karen Blixen, author of the novel 'Out Of Africa'. Karen, a beautiful area just a few miles outside Nairobi, lies under the Ngong Hills between Kenya's bustling capital and the spectacular Rift valley. Kazuri, which means “small and beautiful” in Swahili, began in 1975 as a tiny workshop experimenting on making handmade beads.

Its founder, the late employed many skilled local women to handmade the jewellery, ornaments, beads, bags and ceramic necklaces, unique pottery-ware and dinnerware. These ornaments and artifacts are painted in rich colours. The decors reflect the rich Kenyan culture, wildlife and birdlife. Spend 2 hours at Kazuri Beads, admiring hundreds of beads, shopping for these rare superb ‘African-ware’, then proceed to Karen Blixen for 2 hours. Finally visit the Giraffe Centre for another 2 hours before returning to your hotel.
